LAFORET

  • Akita Mokko Co., Ltd

This ginkgo-leaf-shaped talisman carries profound meaning – crafted from the very ginkgo tree that stood watch over Harajuku and Omotesando’s evolution for four decades at Laforet Harajuku’s entrance. When the tree was felled in February 2019, it was given new life through this project, ensuring its legacy would continue to grow in another form.

Limited to 607 unique pieces, each fragment becomes a sacred keeper of memory; when arranged in sequence, they reconstruct the tree’s silhouette. The conceptual framework and graphic design were envisioned by Naonori Yago, art director at SIX, who imagined these reborn artifacts as communal treasures to be cherished by those connected to the tree’s history. Our studio handled the product design and manufacturing direction, transforming raw wood into detailed talismans that balance organic warmth with refined craftsmanship.
