The scenery reflected on the transparent surface, like the melted ice in a glass or the river bottom swaying in the water, has a mysterious charm that mesmerizes people.Using the phenomenon of light refraction common to everyday life, this block was fabricated to bring an intentional change to the environment.The refracted ray was simulated on a computer, with the amount of refraction changed gradually as it went to the edge. By connecting the planes of different angles with a 5mm square grid with a continuous face, a phenomenon was created in which the light and color from the far side appearing at each coordinate are randomly replaced in spite of the smooth surface.

グラスの中の溶けた氷や水面に揺れる川底のように、透明なものに映し出される景色には人々が心を奪われる不思議な魅力がある。その日常にありふれた光の屈折という現象を利用して、景色に意図した変化をもたらしてくれるブロックを制作しました。屈折光線をコンピューター上でシミュレートし、端に向かうに連れて徐々に屈折の変化量をコントロール。5ミリ四方のグリッドで角度の異なる平面同士を連続性のある面で接続することで、滑らかな表面でありながら各座標に映る向こう側の光と色がランダムに入れ替わる現象を作り出しています。
